Dragon Flight Project | Chugiak-Eagle River Library Children's Area
Eagle River, Alaska
(30 ft x 44 inches) Textiles & painted wood, 2016.
"Dragon Flight" was originally commissioned in 2003 as a double-sided triptych (15 feet x 44 inches) for the Samson-Dimond Branch Library in Anchorage Alaska. In 2010, the textile work was relocated to the Chugiak-Eagle River Library, and in 2016 was expanded to 6, double-sided panels featuring a community art component on the reverse.
This project was supported by generous grants from the Chugiak-Eagle River Foundation, the Anchorage Library Foundation and Friends of the Library. |
Lost in a Book | Wasilla Public Library Children's Area
Wasilla, Alaska
(40" x 40") Acrylic on board, maple frame, 2016.
The librarians' request for a “joy filled” painting for the entrance to the children's area of the newly completed Wasilla Public Library inspired this whimsical piece . My previous work as a children’s book illustrator led to the exploration of the magical quality of childhood, while considering the site specific nature of the wooded birch grove surrounding the library.
